Miami University's Presser Hall is award worthy and historic. The original building from 1930 posed many challenges for D.A.G. While excavating the basement, dirt had to be removed carefully so that the piers and foundation walls in the middle of the floor would not be disrupted. If there was any interference with these piers the building could have collapsed. D.A.G. had to demo the balcony and construct new music classrooms in its place, while the frame hung over the ground floor. The old slate roof was replaced in sections to guarantee the wood structure below was stable. A lead abatement company was brought in to ensure safe removal of lead painted windows. Presser Hall will be a brilliant addition to the Oxford campus with the building being ADA Accessible both outside and inside as well as welcoming the new MEP technology.
